The Brooklyn Free Store was located on Walworth St between Dekalb & Willoughby Ave in Brooklyn (right behind Home Depot). It once stood on an empty lot that was occupied by members of the community working with In Our Hearts in June 2010. The structure we later built there was destroyed by a fire in March 2011. The idea of the Free Store is simple: take whatever you can use, bring whatever you can give that someone else could use. There were racks to hang up the clothes you donate, shelves for appliances, electronics, and books, and plenty of space for whatever you have to give.
The Brooklyn Free Store also held community events.
